Exceptional Curiosity, Depth of Understanding, and Engineering Mindset

I mentored the Documents team in the Kaltura bootcamp for two months. All four students astounded me with their diligence, enthusiasm, curiosity, determination and dedication. Their questions on the weekly meetings showed me that they are not here only to meet the requirements and receive the certificate, rather they really want to understand the "secrets" of software development, the meaning of every step they do. The project itself is very sterile and simple, but the questions were aimed to better understand and prepare for real-life work, on a bigger scale. I was very impressed with their attitude. Even with the simple requirements of the projects, they were all locked in to have the best understanding and knowledge of all aspects of software development, from architecture and design and to testing, deployment and integration. I'm confident that with this strong, highly motivated personalities, all four will succeed in whatever task they will handle.

Strong Ownership, Teamwork, and Professional Mindset

I mentored the Fruit team during the two-month Vast bootcamp and was very pleased with their progress. It was also a great experience collaborating with the KamaTech team to support the group's development throughout the program. From the start, the Fruit team took real ownership of their project and handled technical challenges with a very mature attitude. I was particularly impressed by how they balanced their workload while staying focused on learning new skills. They are practical problem-solvers who communicate well and work together effectively as a group. I am confident they have the right mindset to succeed in a professional environment and will be a great addition to any team. Best regards Eugene

Rapid Ramp-Up, Independent Execution, and Delivery of a Complex Open-Source System

I had an opportunity to mentor one of the groups in a bootcamp Pliops hosted. Over the course of a few months, the students led a real project we wanted to promote in the company, in which we implemented a new type of KV-Cache connector in vLLM, a leading open-source LLM inference engine. The students had no specific background in the relevant technologies (such as LLM internals and the relevant hardware), but they showed a great capacity to quickly ramp up on the details, and to design and execute the core changes we set out to implement. My goal was to let the students work independently and only guide them in the right direction. They worked as a team, defining and executing all aspects of the project—learning the codebase and technologies, identifying the relevant changes, defining implementation iterations, implementing the new capabilities, profiling and improving performance, and finally preparing for the project presentation. As we employ quite a few ExtraTech alumni in the company, I expected high standards—and indeed, the students demonstrated a remarkable ability to operate as an independent team, absorb a lot of new information, and execute a complex project on a short timeline. I’m confident the students will be valuable members of any software team.
